German national football team coach Jürgen Klopp has called up Niclas Füllkrug for the November Nations League matches against Serbia and the Netherlands. The thirty-three-year-old striker is returning to the national team after regularly scoring in the Bundesliga. Die Zeit ↗
Germany will first play away against Serbia and then host the Netherlands. Klopp also included three newcomers in his 24-man squad. The biggest surprise is 17-year-old Wael Mohya from Borussia Mönchengladbach, who received his first call-up to the senior team. n-tv ↗
The squad also includes Brajan Gruda, Finn Jeltsch and Cologne talent Said El Mala. Klopp is thus continuing to combine young players with more experienced internationals. „Es ist ein bunter Mix aus sehr jung und durchaus erfahren,“ the coach said regarding his selection. SITA ↗
Füllkrug's call-up represents a departure from the original plan to rejuvenate the German team ahead of the 2028 European Championship. The striker secured his place through his current form and goal-scoring productivity in the Bundesliga. Spiegel.de ↗
At the same time, Klopp narrowed the squad compared to the previous call-up. Some players who got a chance in September were not included in the selection this time. The November Nations League block will therefore show how the coach wants to combine experience with the gradual involvement of young footballers. Tagesspiegel ↗
