Elversberg after comeback in Gladbach awaits clash with Bayern

SV Elversberg continues its surprising start in German Bundesliga. The newcomer to the league on Saturday turned around the match at Borussia Mönchengladbach's stadium and won 4:3, although the home side led 3:1. After the previous success against Leverkusen, the club from the smallest town in the history of the top German league added another significant result. Spiegel.de ↗

For Gladbach, it was a painful home defeat. Captain Tim Kleindienst sharply criticized his teammates after the match and reproached them for their behavior off the pitch as well. Former Borussia captain Lars Stindl stood behind his criticism. At the same time, pressure is mounting on coach Eugene Polansky, who after a poor start to the season openly admitted his dissatisfaction with the performance and result. WDR Nachrichten ↗

Elversberg is meanwhile getting into the spotlight of the entire league. The club, which is a newcomer and the smallest Bundesliga participant by city of operation, is no longer merely a curiosity of the season's beginning. After the comeback in Mönchengladbach, it faces the biggest possible test when it takes on FC Bayern Munich. sport.sk ↗

Bayern will enter the match after the first slip-up of the season, when they drew at Schalke 04's stadium. The clash with Elversberg will thus be a confrontation between the traditional favorite and a team that has so far disrupted the expected balance of power in the Bundesliga. Der Standard ↗
