FC Bayern Munich drew 2:2 with Borussia Dortmund in Saturday's Bundesliga clash and missed the chance to move clear at the top of the table. The hosts took the lead twice, but Dortmund responded on both occasions, and Fabio Silva secured a point for the visitors in the 89th minute. WDR Nachrichten ↗
The match was also significantly affected by injuries on Bayern's side. Strikers Saibari and Serge Gnabry had to leave the pitch early on, and further health problems emerged after the game. Bayern also led the match without coach Vincent Kompany, who was absent from the game. Spiegel.de ↗
Harry Kane took to the field shortly after Bayern fans honored him for winning the Ballon d'Or. However, the English striker remained without a goal and missed a penalty kick in the second half. After the match, he criticized his own performance, stating that even another hour of play would probably not have helped him score. n-tv ↗
Borussia Dortmund earned praise after the match for their fighting spirit and resilience. Coach Niko Kovač was also able to rely on Joan Gadou, in whom he placed his trust for the important match. The draw kept both teams in close contact at the top of the league and could increase tension in the fight for the Bundesliga title. WDR Nachrichten ↗
After the match, attention also turned to Joshua Kimmich, who spoke about his personal situation following the recent death of his father. The German international stated that football can help him during this period of grief. n-tv ↗
