Germany has not ruled out giving up hosting next year's ice hockey world championships. The reason is the ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on the return of the Russian national teams to the international scene. hnonline.sk ↗

The chairman of the German Ice Hockey Federation, Frank H. Lutz, stated that the organizers are also considering the possibility of withdrawing from hosting the May tournament. According to available statements, his position on the return of the Russian teams was one of disapproval. idnes.cz ↗

The German federation is also waiting for the next steps of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It will have to determine how the CAS ruling will be reflected in the organization and participation of individual national teams at the world championships. teraz.sk ↗

According to the German side, Russia's participation could also create a risk of boycott by some national teams. The German organizers are therefore assessing both the political and sporting consequences of the return of Russian ice hockey players. STVR (Spravy) ↗
