Slavia Prague footballers kicked off the new Chance League season on Sunday, 26 July, with a home match against Slovácko. The defending champions began their pursuit of a third consecutive league title and, at the same time, another direct qualification for the Champions League. The coaching staff fielded an unconventional lineup featuring young players and four new signings, while Lukáš Provod remained only among the substitutes. zpravy.aktualne.cz ↗
The Prague club enters the season as the main favourite according to bookmakers and part of the football expert community. Slavia, meanwhile, is dealing with significant changes to its squad following the championship season. Tomáš Chorý will continue at Eden, even though he is still serving out a three-match ban for a red card. His return to the team was discussed before the start of the season, and club owner Pavel Tykač reportedly played an important role. irozhlas.cz ↗
Besides Chorý, movement of other players also remains in the spotlight. David Douděra wants to leave, while Jindřich Staněk and Oscar Dorley have received permission to negotiate a transfer. The club has also lost talented Matouš Srba, who moved to Bayern Munich. Defender Štěpán Chaloupek said after the World Cup that he now belongs to Slavia, brushing aside questions about a possible departure. eurofotbal.cz ↗
Another new face is Danijel Šturm, for whom Slavia reportedly paid a high fee and who has been nicknamed Pogačar within the team. The first league round is thus set to show how quickly the reshuffled squad adapts to the new season. Further developments will also depend on whether the expected departures of key players are confirmed and how Chorý reintegrates into the match rhythm once his ban expires. zpravy.aktualne.cz ↗
