Zelensky accuses Russia of nuclear terrorism on anniversary of Chernobyl

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, accused Russia of "nuclear terrorism" and of posing a threat to the security of the whole of Europe. The president pointed out that Russian drones regularly fly over the site of the former nuclear power plant. One of them even crashed into the concrete sarcophagus protecting the damaged reactor in February last year. Zelensky emphasized that Russia is once again bringing the region closer to a nuclear catastrophe and endangering the security of the European Union. interez.sk ↗ teraz.sk ↗

The disaster at the Soviet Chernobyl nuclear power plant occurred on April 26, 1986, and ranks among the greatest tragedies in the field of nuclear energy. At the time, the power plant was among the largest in the world and was also part of the Soviet army's strategic military program. The consequences of the accident also affected Slovakia. During his visit to Azerbaijan, Zelensky also indicated that he is ready to negotiate with Russia on neutral ground, and at the same time announced a strategic partnership with Baku, including agreements on defense cooperation and joint weapons production. seznamzpravy.cz ↗ SITA ↗
