After US special envoy Steve Witkoff's talks in Russia, large-scale attacks between Russia and Ukraine continued overnight into Thursday. Russian missiles hit Kyiv, where at least 15 people were injured and the metro was also damaged. According to other reports, one person died and several were injured in the Russian attacks. SITA ↗
At the same time, Ukraine sent hundreds of drones toward Moscow and the Moscow region. Russian authorities stated there were 630 of them. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that two people were injured in the attacks. The extent of the damage and the exact number of downed drones have not yet been fully clarified. svet.sme.sk ↗
The attacks followed shortly after Witkoff's visit to Russia and his talks on a possible end to the war. The envoy is facing criticism for describing Russian President Vladimir Putin as a humanitarian figure. His statements provoked disagreement across the political spectrum in the United States. Despite the ongoing fighting, US President Donald Trump claims that a peace agreement is closer than ever before. At the same time, he is still refusing new sanctions against Russia. However, Moscow and Kyiv continue to carry out mutual attacks, suggesting that the negotiations have not yet brought an end to the violence. No further information has been published regarding the further development of diplomatic contacts or the possible involvement of Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Welt ↗
