France closed out its group with a 4:1 win over Norway, in which Ousmane Dembélé scored a hat-trick. The team finished first in its group and will face Sweden on Tuesday. After the match, Maxence Lacroix dedicated the win to coach Didier Deschamps, who had earlier returned to France for his mother's funeral. Ahead of the knockout stage, Deschamps warned the team that a different part of the tournament is now beginning. Le Figaro ↗

Saturday brought new decisions as well. The Democratic Republic of Congo defeated Uzbekistan 3:1 in Atlanta, advancing to the World Cup knockout stage for the first time in its history. Celebrations broke out in Kinshasa following the qualification. Algeria secured its passage after a dramatic match against Austria. Portugal, after drawing with Colombia, will face Croatia in the round of 16. France24 ↗

Côte d'Ivoire, the Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, Brazil, Morocco, Switzerland, Canada, South Africa and Bosnia had already secured their advancement earlier. Cape Verde remains a standout story, having reached the last 16 at its first-ever tournament appearance after drawing with Saudi Arabia. The remaining fixtures will now determine which teams manage the transition from group-stage security to the knockout matches. Le Figaro ↗
