Vitézy dismisses Lázár's acquaintance from the head of MÁV SZK

On Tuesday, June 2, Dávid Vitézy dismissed János Bada with immediate effect from the position of CEO of MÁV Szolgáltató Központ, the service company of the MÁV group. On Wednesday, June 3, it was announced that Enikő Simon, who has worked at the MÁV group for 23 years, became the new CEO. Index.hu ↗

MÁV justified the dismissal by stating that MÁV SZK had failed to effectively ensure service for the entire corporate group. The company has approximately 3,900 employees and, according to available information, is responsible for procurement and contracts within the MÁV group. Following the change in leadership, a complete organizational overhaul of the service center is expected to follow. Index.hu ↗

In the Hungarian media, Bada was described as a former high school classmate of János Lázár. The dismissal therefore comes at a politically sensitive time, when Vitézy has also been speaking about suspicions surrounding the real figures in the budgetary and investment areas linked to the transport ministry. In recent days, Vitézy also announced a plan to replace the HÉV fleet. According to the announcements, Hungary is to purchase 42 new railcars thanks to freed-up European funds, which are meant to replace the old sets on the lines toward Szentendre, Csepel, and Ráckeve. According to the promise, the first air-conditioned and barrier-free trains could begin operating in 2029. Telex ↗
