Constitutional Court rules that part of the decree on heat cost allocation is unconstitutional

The Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic ruled on Wednesday that part of the Ministry of Economy's decree, which concerns the method of allocating heating costs in apartment buildings, is in conflict with the constitution. The decision came after a motion filed by a group of opposition members of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, who challenged the disputed provisions of the decree. hnonline.sk ↗ pravda.sk ↗

The decision may have significant consequences for the way heating costs in apartment buildings will be allocated in the future. The Constitutional Court thus sided with the opposition, which had pointed out the conflict between the given regulation and the constitution of the Slovak Republic. This legal discrepancy had been an issue for a long time and led to the mobilization of members of parliament to have it repealed. ta3.com ↗ teraz.sk ↗

The Constitutional Court's finding will need to be implemented in practice, with the Ministry of Economy having to adopt new rules that correspond to constitutional requirements. The court's decision underscores the importance of aligning legal regulations with the constitutional order and represents a significant win for the opposition politicians who had focused on this issue. domov.sme.sk ↗
