US President Donald Trump on Wednesday welcomed Argentine footballer Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami teammates to the White House in honor of their 2025 Major League Soccer victory. On this occasion, Trump hosted the footballers together with coach Javier Mascherano and the club's co-owner. During the meeting, Trump complimented Messi and the team on their achievements, expressing surprise at a question about the football legend, which drew applause from those present. According to Trump, Messi could have chosen any club in the world and decided on Miami, which the president described as a major success. sport.sk ↗ SITA ↗
At the same time, Trump made personnel changes on the domestic front. On Thursday, he dismissed Kristi Noem from her position as head of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Under her leadership, the department was responsible for extensive crackdowns on illegal immigration, which represented a key element of Trump's political agenda. SITA ↗ pravda.sk ↗
These events are unfolding in parallel with Trump's statements concerning Iran. Trump indicated that once the military conflict with Iran ends, the United States could turn its focus to Cuba, which already faces an American energy blockade. The president also continues to criticize Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whom he describes as an obstacle to reaching an agreement with Russia. novinky.cz ↗ seznamzpravy.cz ↗
