Orbán criticizes Ukraine for halting oil supplies and blocks EU loan ahead of elections

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has sharply intensified his stance toward Ukraine and Brussels in recent days. He described the halt of Russian oil transit to Hungary as an unprovoked act of hostility on the part of Kyiv, which in his view undermines Hungary's energy security. In a letter to European Council President António Costa, he also declared that Orbán's government wants to block a key EU loan intended for Ukraine.

Orbán also accuses Brussels of favoring support for Ukraine at the expense of Hungary's interests. Disputes over oil supplies are causing tension within the European Union. Similarly, Orbán claims that Ukraine itself does not want the war to end, referring in this context to Czechia as well.

These steps come two days before the Hungarian parliamentary elections, in which Orbán's government is expected to suffer defeat. At this critical moment, the government also plans to sell lucrative state-owned land worth hundreds of millions of euros into private hands.

Orbán, together with figures such as Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and Robert Fico, exemplifies repeated political failures and chaotic state management, which in the case of the energy crisis is creating a national catastrophe.
