Prague's Sparta beat Slovácko 5:1 on Letná in round 12 of the Chance Liga, moving up to second place in the table. The main figure of the match was Norwegian forward Jonatan Braut Brunes, who scored four goals and significantly contributed to ending a three-match winless streak. isport.cz ↗
Brunes, who joined Sparta in July, struggled to score at the start of the season. Before the match against Slovácko, he had scored only once in competitive matches. Against the Moravian team, however, he significantly expanded his scoring tally. He netted three goals within 23 minutes and beat the visiting defense a total of four times. isport.cz ↗
Sparta fielded a lineup with seven changes, and there was only a single Czech player among the starters. Nevertheless, the home side handled the match convincingly and, after a defeat in the Europa League, secured an important league win. Slovácko remains in the lower part of the table, and coach Jan Jelínek admitted that his team had not prepared well for the opponent's offense. "It's a hard lesson for us," he said after the match. sport.cz ↗
Sparta coach Brian Priske admitted that the details also went Brunes' way this time, and there was a bit of luck involved as well. The Norwegian forward said after the match: "I needed that." The management and fans now expect to see whether he can build on this performance in upcoming league and European matches as well. sport.cz ↗
