Harry Kane is among the nine main candidates for the Ballon d'Or award for the 2025/2026 season. The winner of both the men's and women's categories will be announced on Monday evening at a ceremony in London. Among the favorites is also the FC Bayern Munich striker, whose main rivals are Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal. Der Standard ↗
Last season, Kane scored a combined 73 goals for Bayern and the English national team. His supporters argue that such productivity should be enough to win the trophy. The English striker also impressed in Bayern's recent match against Arsenal, which ended in a 2:2 draw. According to the ratings, he was once again among the most outstanding players in the match. n-tv ↗
Kane's candidacy is further strengthened by his standing within the Munich team and his consistent scoring performance. However, his rivals have their own arguments. Mbappé is among the most dangerous forwards in the world, and Yamal is drawing attention with exceptional performances despite his young age. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is also counted among the other serious contenders. Le Figaro ↗
The decision therefore remains open. Not only the number of goals will be evaluated, but also the significance of performances in important matches, team achievements, and the overall impact of individual players throughout the season. The result of the London vote will determine whether Kane will cap off his time at Bayern by winning the most prestigious individual award.
