Tottenham Hotspur lost 2:3 on their home ground to Aston Villa in the fifth round of the English Premier League. Czech goalkeeper Antonín Kinský conceded three times, and the London club dropped into the relegation zone after another defeat. Tottenham are still waiting for their first league win of the season. zpravy.aktualne.cz ↗
Aston Villa, on the other hand, celebrated their first triumph of the new season. After five matches they have four points and have moved up to 15th place in the table. Tottenham scored their first goals of the season in the match, but it was not enough to secure any points. zurnal.pravda.sk ↗
The visitors built up a decisive lead after the break, when Nicolas Jackson and Emiliano Buendía found the net. Tottenham tried to turn the result around but failed to add another goal. Kinský thus faces renewed doubts within his team after a match in which he had to retrieve the ball from the net three times. teraz.sk ↗
Tottenham coach Roberto de Zerbi described his side as too fragile after the defeat. The London club, moreover, has not won a match since November 2024 in which they conceded first. After five rounds they therefore remain without a win and find themselves in the relegation zone. BBC News ↗
Tottenham will need to improve both their defense and their results in order to climb up the table. Aston Villa, following their first win of the season, can build on their improved performance in the coming league rounds.
