chardonnay enters the scene with her debut call me out. The song was born only after the breakup with her producer
A new voice is arriving on the Czech alternative and electronic scene. The singer performing as chardonnay combines indie songwriting with dance-floor energy, prominent synths and guitars in her debut single call me out. The track was released together with a music video and is available on streaming platforms. GREGI.NET ↗
According to her, the stage name is meant to carry a taste, a color, a scent and a mood. It was originally what her then-partner called her, and when she was looking for a name to perform under, she decided to make it her own. It was with him — the producer performing as martyn — that she ultimately created her first single as well. GREGI.NET ↗
Paradoxically, they only started creating together after the relationship ended. "For four years we wanted to make something together, but paradoxically we only managed it the moment we broke up. The whole time, experiences, emotions and some tension had been building up inside us, and then it suddenly came out in the form of a song," says chardonnay. GREGI.NET ↗
The first words started coming to her spontaneously while listening to the instrumental in the car, and the production came about just as intuitively. The result is a track moving between synth textures, techno-inspired energy and indie guitars. According to the credits under the official visualizer, chardonnay wrote the lyrics, while martyn is responsible for the music. For him, after years of producing and playing in the bands Holden and WYFE, this is his first solo songwriting effort. YouTube — chardonnay ↗
