Seattle-based singer-songwriter Sera Cahoone has released a new album, I've Missed You All These Years. It is out once again on Sub Pop, which, according to the Italian magazine OndaRock, welcomed her back with open arms despite a rather sharp split in the past. The last decade took her father, her best friend, and her dog, and the songs thus carry a therapeutic, personal dimension. OndaRock ↗
The reviewer hears a more balanced and mature mix of country, folk, blues and pop: the twangy Horse Runnin', the radio-friendly Say Something, and the melancholic ballad Supposed To Be, also praising Tangled Night and Something Good. The album features longtime collaborators including Jeff Fielder (guitar, banjo) and Jason Kardong (pedal steel). Cahoone was born in 1975. In her music she combines classic country-western with indie rock and lo-fi. As a drummer, she played in the bands Carissa's Wierd and Band of Horses. Before this new release, her last album on Sub Pop was Deer Creek Canyon in 2012, followed by From Where I Started (2017) and The Flora String Sessions (2018) on the Lady Muleskinner Records label.
