A private tuition centre roof collapsed on Tuesday in Lahore, Pakistan, killing 14 children. According to authorities, the disaster occurred in the Kahna suburb, when the ceiling caved in directly onto children who were studying. Most of the victims were between seven and eleven years old, and among the dead are also children younger than ten. A further five people were injured. A relative of one of the victims told AFP that the roof was "in poor condition" and that workers were repairing the roofing while the children were studying. The Chief Minister of Punjab province, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, described the disaster as a "heartbreaking tragedy" and pledged that "anyone found responsible will feel the full force of the law."
