Zbrojovka Brno footballers defeated Zlín 3:2 at home in the 6th round of the top league. Defender Filip Vedral scored the decisive goal in the third minute of extra time, heading in after Dante's cross to cap off a dramatic finish to the match. isport.cz ↗
Brno took the lead in the 23rd minute thanks to Daniel Vašulín, but the match gradually turned into a shootout. Zlín stayed in the game and after two converted corner kicks came close to securing points. In the end, however, they remained pointless and after another round are the only team in the league that has yet to earn points. sport.cz ↗
For Vedral, it was his first goal in the top league. He only started playing in the first league this autumn at age 29 and scored in his fifth match among the elite. The goal was made even more significant by the fact that it was the winning goal and came during extra time.
The match was also accompanied by emotions on the Brno bench. Coach Martin Svědík berated his players during a short spell, had objections to the fourth official, received a yellow card, and eventually celebrated the additional points. After the match, he also explained a disagreement with a substitute player. sport.cz ↗
The victory kept Brno on pace for points after their return to the elite, while Zlín continues to wait for their first points. Coming rounds will show whether Zbrojovka can build on a result-wise successful but tactically complicated match.
