Paris Saint-Germain fans face possible consequences for controversial choreography before Tuesday's Champions League match against FC Barcelona. A large banner featuring a bloody chainsaw and a motif reminiscent of a massacre appeared in the stands. Barcelona is considering filing a complaint with UEFA over the display. sport.cz ↗
The choreography caused an uproar even before the start of the match, which Paris Saint-Germain ultimately won 4:2. German media described the display as a provocation aimed at the Catalan club. The case could have disciplinary consequences, as UEFA assesses the behavior of fans and the content presented in the stands. Tagesspiegel ↗
Attention after the match was also drawn to the reaction of Parisian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian international suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and posted a brief message on social media. His injury represents a significant blow to the offense for coach Luis Enrique's team. Le Figaro ↗
Besides Kvaratskhelia, the Parisian club also lost Ousmane Dembélé and captain Marquinhos during the match. Barcelona suffered its first defeat of the season and is dealing with the health status of Dani Olmo ahead of Sunday's El Clásico. The coming days will therefore bring not only disciplinary assessment of the choreography but also further information on absences for both teams. SITA ↗
