Real Madrid officially confirmed the arrival of Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig on Thursday, August 6, 2026. The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international leaves the German Bundesliga club after one season and has signed a contract in Madrid until the summer of 2033. Der Standard ↗
According to multiple reports, the transfer fee stands at at least 125 million euros. Spanish sources also cite a further 10 million euros in possible bonuses, while French reports put Real Madrid's total spending at 140 million euros. For Leipzig, this is the biggest player sale in the club's history, and for Real Madrid one of its most expensive signings. Le Figaro ↗
Diomande plays on the wing, and talk of his move to Madrid had been circulating for several days already. Several major European clubs were said to be interested in the young forward. Before his time at Leipzig, his career took off more significantly after joining Leganés, where he got his chance at the age of eighteen. Spiegel.de ↗
The new signing is already in Madrid and is set to join the team's training under the guidance of José Mourinho. Real Madrid gains a player with a long-term contract and a high transfer value, while Leipzig, after Diomande's brief spell there, has significantly boosted its revenue from player sales.
