Real Madrid won 3:2 away at Elche in round 6 of the Spanish La Liga. José Mourinho's team built up a two-goal lead, but the hosts managed to equalize. The visitors' triumph was decided by Espí in the 92nd minute. El Pais ↗
Kylian Mbappé scored his seventh league goal and also set up another precise finish. The French forward played a major role in Real Madrid taking the lead, but the team failed to close out the match in regular time. Elche, which sits near the bottom of the table, ultimately came close to a point, but conceded the decisive goal in stoppage time. Le Figaro ↗
Before the match, Mourinho announced that, barring unforeseen circumstances, Vinicius, Mbappé and Jude Bellingham would once again start in the lineup. However, in the starting eleven, Arda Güler replaced Bellingham. The Turkish footballer is working to secure his place in the team and is among the players with the highest number of key passes in European competitions this season. El Mundo ↗
Thanks to the win, Real Madrid remained in contact with Barcelona in the fight for the top of the league. Elche is still waiting for its first win of the season. The Madrid team will need to improve its ability to control a lead before upcoming matches, since against Elche it squandered a two-goal advantage and only salvaged the result in the final minutes.
