Trump threatens to 'bomb the sh*t' out of Oman CNN
Donald Trump published a map on which the Strait of Hormuz is marked as U.S. territory, announced that no negotiations are taking place and are not planned with Tehran, and threatened Oman with destruction. The Emirates shortly thereafter announced that Iran fired two ballistic missiles at their territory. According to Moscow's mayor, over six hundred Ukrainian drones targeted Moscow, the largest strike in two years, and Russia is threatening London over British aircraft in Ukrainian deep strikes. Cyberattacks in one day paralyzed the Berlin administration, the French tax authority, and the Latvian driver registry.

This overview is based on 21,085 articles published since yesterday morning by 37 European and American newsrooms. Yellow highlights were added in the afternoon, blue in the evening window.

  • Greece labeled Turkish marine protected areas in Aegean as illegal — 🇩🇪 DE · 🇬🇷 GR · 🇹🇷 TR

What we're noticing

Nature protection as a tool for maritime dispute. Turkey declared marine national parks in the Aegean, and Athens immediately labeled them illegal. Turkish media frames this itself as a continuation of the 'Blue Homeland' doctrine (Mavi Vatan)—that is, dispute over shelf and exclusive economic zones, not fish. It's about two NATO members and a sea where tens of thousands of Slovaks vacation.

Cyberattack that was predictable. Romanian HotNews published an investigation of the attack that blocked the entire country's real estate market for a month. The key finding is not technical: thousands of passwords for notaries, lawyers, engineers, and officials lay freely on the internet even before the attack. It wasn't about sophisticated intervention, but systemic negligence—and the same question applies to cadastre or notarial depositories here.

Consolidation with concrete numbers. Finnish public broadcaster Yle published research that assigned budget government decisions impact by income groups: the poorest lose nearly a thousand euros annually, the richest gain two thousand. Nordic countries publish such calculations routinely—and it's precisely the kind of figure missing in domestic debate about consolidation.
