The band Mirai from Frýdek-Místek released the single Afterlife on 25 September. It was originally due out later, but given recent events the band decided to publish it now. The music video was shot at the airports in Milovice and Hradec Králové under director Tomáš Holzknecht. Novinky.cz ↗
In June 2026 the band released the summer single Malinovej sirup, which, according to the press release, quickly caught on in streaming playlists and on the radio, where it is still among the ten most-played songs. According to Mirai frontman Navrátil, the lyrics of Afterlife are "a lot about death and what comes after." He says the song was written and recorded long before guitarist Tomáš Javůrek's serious illness. It had been prepared for the album, "but after what happened, it took on a new dimension." GREGI.NET ↗
Javůrek himself describes how he was preparing for summer concerts with the band and went for a check-up, where they discovered a malignant tumour. Within two hours he was in the operating theatre, and a month later he underwent chemotherapy. He adds: "Fortunately, everything is on the way to a complete cure." GREGI.NET ↗
According to Navrátil, it was Javůrek who came up with the idea of releasing the single. When he played the song in the car after a long time, it moved him to tears, and the line "life never asks anyone about anything" captured his own situation, in his words. As is traditional, production and part of the songwriting were handled by producer fiedlerski. According to the press release, Afterlife will also be performed at the band's biggest concert on 12 June 2027 at Prague's Eden, where they will build a unique 360 stage. GREGI.NET ↗
