French President Emmanuel Macron said Saturday after a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that France will supply Ukraine with more missiles for air-defense systems. He also responded to Friday’s Russian attack on the city of Kryvyi Rih in central Ukraine, over which he said he felt horror and outrage. hnonline.sk ↗
Macron said Russia is choosing the path of intimidation and escalation by systematically attacking civilians. According to the French president, Moscow is trying to break Ukraine through terror, but he said it will not achieve that goal. He reported the further support on the social network X after speaking with Zelenskyy. idnes.cz ↗
The promised deliveries concern anti-missile missiles for Ukraine’s air defenses, whose stocks Kyiv is running down amid continuing Russian attacks. Slovak sources also mention missiles for Patriot systems. According to available information, Zelenskyy spoke with Macron by phone for almost two hours. STVR (Minúta po minúte) ↗
The French president also called on other countries to provide Ukraine with the necessary means to defend itself against Russian attacks. Kyiv’s pressure to replenish air defenses is expected to continue, as Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities further increase the consumption of defensive missiles. STVR (Spravy) ↗
