During his performances, Macklemore also used the stage to make political statements about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. At one concert, he called for the freedom of Palestine, which sparked criticism and put pressure on the organizers. According to media reports, several American concert venues reportedly did not want to host the rapper. NOS ↗

Macklemore blames Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots and Gillette Stadium, for his removal. According to some reports, Kraft allegedly pressured Sheeran and other stadium owners to keep the rapper off the remaining shows. One of the reasons was said to be a petition by an organization supporting Israel. TVN24.pl ↗

Some reactions linked Macklemore's statements to accusations of antisemitism, while other public figures openly supported his right to speak out on the situation in Gaza and the Palestinian territories. According to media reports, his supporters included Greta Thunberg and Hannah Einbinder. El Pais ↗

Macklemore performed on Sheeran's tour twice. He will not be part of the remaining dates of the American leg. The case shows that artists' public stances on the military conflict in the Middle East can affect their collaboration with concert organizers. zpravy.aktualne.cz ↗
