Harry Kane won the Ballon d'Or for the 2025/26 season. The 33-year-old English Bayern Munich forward received the prestigious award at a gala ceremony in London, where he came out ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal. irozhlas.cz ↗
Kane became the first Englishman since Michael Owen in 2001 to win the Ballon d'Or. He is also the first player playing in the German Bundesliga since Matthias Sammer in 1996 to win this individual award. The result was decided by a vote of 100 international journalists. BBC News ↗
The forward had an outstanding season behind him. For Bayern Munich and the England national team, he scored a total of 73 goals. With the Bavarian club, he won the league title as well as the German Cup. At Bayern, according to assessments, he became not only a finisher but also an important creator of play. ekonomika.pravda.sk ↗
Lamine Yamal, who plays for FC Barcelona, did not win the main award. However, at the age of 19, he won the Trophée Kopa for the best young footballer for the third time in a row. He also won the award in 2024 and 2025.
Kane's victory marks the sixth Ballon d'Or for an English footballer in history. The award also represents a significant achievement for Bayern Munich, as the club won football's most prestigious individual award after a long period. lidovky.cz ↗
