Arsenal took the lead in Munich, but Bayern managed to turn the score around. Alphonso Davies and Harry Kane were involved in their goals, with Kane first setting up a goal for a teammate and then converting a penalty kick. The Bayern captain was one of the most prominent players of the match, standing out not only with a goal and an assist but also with his play-making and distribution. Sueddeutsche Zeitung ↗
The visitors eventually equalized late on, when Declan Rice scored. Arsenal thus took a valuable draw from Germany after an offensively oriented match with numerous chances. Despite losing the lead, Bayern continues unbeaten in the league phase. Sueddeutsche Zeitung ↗
The match was also marked by Bukayo Saka's injury. The Arsenal winger had to leave the pitch early in the match due to a thigh muscle problem. Coach Mikel Arteta said after the match that the injury "doesn't look good at all." Bayern, meanwhile, fielded an improvised lineup and also had to deal with further health complications during the match. BBC News ↗
The result kept both teams in a good position ahead of the continuation of the league phase. Attention will now focus particularly on Saka's health and on whether Kane can maintain the form that ranks him among the candidates for the Ballon d'Or award. Tagesspiegel ↗
