Jannik Sinner has reached the final of the Madrid Masters 1000 tennis tournament after a convincing win over Arthur Fils. The Italian tennis player defeated his French opponent in the semifinal by a set score of 6:2, 6:4, and with this advance secured his place among three historic players who have reached the finals of five consecutive Masters 1000 tournaments. Le Monde ↗
Sinner dominated in his performance, especially in the first set, where he played at a high level. The second set was somewhat more demanding, but the world number one handled this phase too without major problems. The twenty-three-year-old Italian is thus getting closer to a historic milestone — if he were to win the Madrid tournament, he would become the first man in tennis to win five consecutive Masters 1000 tournaments. Fils, who entered his first semifinal at this level of tournament on Friday, was unable to match the playing quality of the world number one. The French player has reached four semifinals in his career in 2025 — besides Madrid, also in Doha, Miami and Barcelona, but he did not succeed in Madrid. idnes.cz ↗
For Sinner, this is his first final at the Madrid tournament. In the final, he will face the winner of the second semifinal match between Blockx and Zverev. sport.cz - hokej ↗
