Lens won in Friday's early kick-off of the sixth round of the French Ligue 1 against Olympique Lyon 2:1. Lyon suffered its first defeat of the new league season, even though it had a numerical advantage in the final stage of the match. teraz.sk ↗
The triumph of the home team was decided by captain Florian Thauvin, who set up both goal situations. Florian Sotoca scored the first goal, Matthieu Udol added the second. Lens thus gained an important three points at their home stadium Bollaert. eurofotbal.cz ↗
For coach Yannick Cahuzac, it was his second match on the team's bench and also his first victory on home ground. After a series of unconvincing results, Lens managed to assert itself against an opponent who had not lost in the competition until then. Le Monde ↗
Lyon, in whose lineup Slovak goalkeeper Greif also appeared and, according to available data, also Czech international Šulc, failed to capitalize on their playing advantage in the final stage. The visitors thus came away without points and failed to continue their unbeaten start to the season.
The result strengthened Lens's position at the start of the sixth round and at the same time ended Lyon's flawless league run. Further developments in the standings will be influenced by the remaining matches of the round. Le Figaro ↗
