Kim Petras has released a deluxe version of her May album with four new songs. Among them is Autobahn — a song The FADER describes as a crooner and a sister track to one of her older pieces. The FADER ↗
"It's about unrequited love," Petras wrote to the magazine by email. "With Autobahn I was thinking about what it's like when someone doesn't want you — like walking aimlessly in the wrong direction with a broken compass." The FADER ↗
The nostalgically tinged track is built on a brisk drum beat, acoustic guitar and acid synthesizers in a turn-of-the-millennium style; as her main sonic inspiration Petras cites "Michelle Branch around 2000". She writes about longing with humor and without mincing words. The FADER ↗
Petras is from Cologne, Germany, and worked her way to international attention through a series of independently released pop singles. In 2023, she became the first openly transgender artist to win a Grammy in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category — for the song Unholy, recorded with Sam Smith.
Fourteen news items have already been added about her on SuperMusic.cz, but so far she was represented there by only a single track; now the lyrics to Heart to Break and Malibu have been added alongside it.
