National Council member Roman Michelko from SNS and police investigator Ján Čurilla agreed on a settlement in a personal rights dispute on Wednesday, September 2. Čurilla sued Michelko for statements the MP made in connection with the investigation of Daniel Tupý's murder. According to available information, he labeled him as a criminal and claimed that Čurilla had failed in the investigation of the case. In the dispute, Čurilla sought an apology and compensation for non-pecuniary damages in the amount of 70 thousand euros. dennikn.sk ↗

The agreement was reached shortly before the court's ruling. Michelko proposed concluding a settlement and both parties agreed on its terms. The agreement also includes a finding that the MP violated Čurilla's personal rights. The dispute thus ended without a judgment on the merits. kultura.pravda.sk ↗

The case follows a public debate about former NAKA investigators and the investigation of Daniel Tupý's murder. The settlement means that Michelko must fulfill the agreed obligations, while the originally claimed compensation amount has been significantly reduced. STVR (Minute by Minute) ↗
