PSG took the field as Champions League winners, while Aston Villa came into the match as holders of the Europa League trophy. The goals for the Paris team were scored by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué, who scored the winning goal in the 61st minute. According to several reports, the English team delivered a convincing performance, but was not sufficiently effective in crucial moments. La Repubblica ↗
The match was also the first international title of the new season for the team of coach Luis Enrique. Aston Villa also relied on the performance of young Madja, with reports noting that the seventeen-year-old player achieved two records. However, this was not enough for the result, as PSG maintained their narrow lead until the end of the match. Der Standard ↗
The Paris club thus confirmed their successful period on the European scene and entered the new season with another trophy. For Aston Villa, the match remains confirmation of their return among Europe's top teams, but also a reminder of weaker effectiveness in matches for the highest stakes. Der Standard ↗
