FC Barcelona enters preparation for the new season with a major squad change, a midfield health issue, and unpleasant news from the club's leadership. President Joan Laporta had to seek medical help shortly before a friendly match in England due to a heart rhythm disorder. sport.sk ↗
The Catalan club had previously signed German international Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund. According to available figures, Barcelona will pay approximately 22 million euros for the offensive player, with additional bonuses potentially raising the sum to approximately 29 to 31 million euros. The transfer came at the request of coach Hansi Flick, who is expanding the attacking options of the Spanish champions. SITA ↗
Worse news for Barcelona concerns the health of Frenkie de Jong. After the player's return from the World Cup, the club announced that the injury is more serious than originally thought. The Dutch midfielder has a rupture of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee and will be sidelined for several weeks. He played through pain during the tournament and may miss the start of the season. teraz.sk ↗
Changes are also continuing in the women's team. World champion Salma Paralluelo has left Barcelona for Lyon, and another Spanish international is also leaving the club — she played 131 matches and scored 72 goals for Barcelona since joining from Villarreal. Meanwhile, during preparations, Flick is also working with a 16-year-old player who has caught the coaching staff's attention. teraz.sk ↗
Ahead of the new season, Barcelona is thus dealing with strengthening its offense, the absence of a key midfielder, the president's health, and movement within the club's broader structure. El Pais ↗
