US President Donald Trump reacted to the fact that he again did not win the Nobel Peace Prize, awarded in Norway, this year. After the result was announced, he called Norway a "shit house country," drawing media attention and a response from Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide. n-tv ↗
In an interview for the Norwegian broadcaster NRK, Eide stated that Trump has his own style of expression. At the same time, he indicated that he did not want to pay disproportionate attention to his words. The Norwegian minister was thus responding to the president's criticism after Trump once again went without the prestigious peace award. Onet Wiadomosci ↗
The Nobel Peace Prize is among the most significant international awards. Its award ceremony in Norway attracts public and political attention every year. According to reports in the media, Trump's reaction was directly linked to the fact that he did not win the prize this year.
The development of further reactions will depend on whether other Norwegian officials or Nobel Prize organizers publicly comment on Trump's statements. For now, Eide has adopted a restrained tone and emphasized that he does not consider the president's peculiar way of communicating a reason for a broader political controversy.
