Douai, je francúzske mesto v departemente Nord a v regióne Hauts-de-France ležiace na juhu oblasti Flandre romane. Ťažobná spoločnosť „Escarpelle“ tu ťažila uhlie už od roku 1870 a spoločnosť „Aniche“ otvorila baňu „Bernard” v roku 1910. Ťažba uhlia skončila v roku 1970 zatvorením bane č.5.
