Hungarian Writer Péter Nádas Has Died, He Was 83

Hungarian writer, playwright and essayist Péter Nádas died on Wednesday, August 26, at the age of 83. His death was confirmed by his literary agent Anett Oroszová; according to available information, he died at his home in the village of Gombosszeg in Zala County in southwestern Hungary. Nádas was among the most important contemporary Hungarian authors and was repeatedly mentioned among possible candidates for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Before his literary career, he worked as a journalist and photographer.
