Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, after the resignation of Yulia Svyrydenko's government, nominated the head of the Naftogaz company, Serhiy Koretsky, for the post of new prime minister. The Ukrainian parliament had earlier accepted the resignation of Svyrydenko's government, with 258 MPs voting in favor, and the vote on the new prime minister could take place as early as today. aktuality.sk ↗
Zelensky described Koretsky as the most suitable candidate given the country's preparation for the upcoming winter and possible further Russian attacks. According to new reports, a change at the Ministry of Defense is also to be part of the broader reshuffle. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced his resignation after several months in office, and the president is expected to nominate the current Interior Minister, Ihor Klymenko, in his place. Sources also point to tension between Fedorov and the military command. aktuality.sk ↗
The security context remains crucial. Kyiv faced further explosions overnight after the Ukrainian air force warned of incoming ballistic missiles. Alongside the personnel changes, Zelensky announced that Ukraine wants to acquire the technical capacity to produce missiles for the American Patriot systems by the end of the year. Kyiv and the European Union also concluded an agreement on drones, intended to combine Ukrainian experience with European industrial capacity. hnonline.sk ↗
Regarding former head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, new articles bring no further developments. Further developments will depend on parliamentary confirmation of the new government, the filling of the Ministry of Defense post, and Kyiv's ability to strengthen air defense before winter. forum24.cz ↗
