The strikes followed a deterioration of the situation in the Persian Gulf and around the Strait of Hormuz. According to available information, Iran claimed responsibility for an attack on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. The United Arab Emirates reported two tankers hit, and Iran also responded with attacks on Bahrain. Other reports indicated that missiles were also directed at Jordan and Bahrain. forum24.cz ↗
American President Donald Trump declared that, in his view, the United States had significantly weakened Iran. The American command stated that it used precision-guided munitions in the latest wave of strikes. Some reports described approximately five hours of fire and the striking of six important targets in the Middle East. Novy Cas ↗
UN Secretary-General António Guterres also reacted to the developments, warning against a dangerous escalation between the United States and Iran. The UN expressed concerns about a renewed military confrontation in the Persian Gulf. Further developments will depend mainly on whether attacks on tankers and military targets continue. aktuality.sk ↗
