Sparta Prague footballers failed to maintain their momentum in the domestic league after Tuesday's 2:1 victory over Lyon in the opening match of the Champions League 3rd qualifying round, losing 0:2 in Mladá Boleslav. Coach Brian Priske called the performance unacceptable after the match and admitted that the team already has a problem in the title fight at the beginning of the season. sport.cz ↗
Sparta at home against Lyon was losing 0:1 after the first half, but managed to turn the match around after the break. During the interval, Priske urged the players mainly to be patient, and the turnaround was highlighted by the performance of Matěj Ryneš, who became the unexpected hero of the evening. The victory keeps the Prague club in contention for advancement to the final qualifying round of the Champions League. irozhlas.cz ↗
However, the league defeat quickly interrupted the euphoria. Priske spoke about insufficient quality of all players and suggested that the problem could not be solved only by substitutions, because according to him, eight players could not be replaced. Some fans criticized the club's management after the failure and called for Priske's departure and sports director Tomáš Rosický's departure. denik.cz ↗
Beyond sporting results, the situation of Jan Kuchta continues to resonate. The national team striker did not make the squad for the Lyon match and spent the week training with the second-division B team. According to available reports, he is again leaving Sparta, and Legia Warsaw is interested in him. isport.cz ↗
