The United States wants to hold technical trilateral talks with Ukraine and Russia at the end of October. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the planned format. Representatives of all three countries should take part in the talks.
Zelensky said the meeting is to be at a technical level and will take place in a trilateral format. Details about the venue, participants, or the specific agenda of the talks have not yet been announced. Le Figaro ↗
The Ukrainian president also mentioned the December G20 summit in Miami, Florida, as a possible opportunity for talks at the highest level between the United States, Ukraine, and Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin is also invited to the summit. seznamzpravy.cz ↗
The planned talks could therefore take place in two stages. The first would be a technical meeting at the end of October, which could be followed by a political meeting during the G20 summit in December. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether all leaders will meet at such talks.
The announcement comes amid the ongoing war in Ukraine and efforts to create conditions for diplomatic negotiations. Further developments will depend on an agreement between Washington, Kyiv, and Moscow on the date, format, and level of the planned meetings.
