Britain's Sky has commissioned a feature-length documentary about the trial of Duane "Keffe D" Davis, who was convicted last month of the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur. The film is being produced by Passion Pictures, Propagate Content and West Buttermilk, directed by BAFTA winner and Emmy nominee Marian Mohamed. It will follow the trial from the first day of evidence through the conviction to the upcoming sentencing. It will premiere on Sky Documentaries and the streaming service NOW in 2027. SPIN ↗
The announcement comes three weeks after a Las Vegas jury found Davis guilty of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon. He became the only person ever charged in connection with Shakur's murder — not for pulling the trigger, but for organizing the attack, procuring the weapon and directing the men in the white Cadillac from which Shakur was shot. At the hearing on October 13, he faces life imprisonment; he has announced plans to appeal. SPIN ↗
The prosecution relied mainly on Davis's own statements about the shooting, including remarks to investigators, appearances in documentaries and his 2019 memoir Compton Street Legend. The defense argued that these statements were exaggerated or fabricated, pointing to the lack of physical evidence that would independently place Davis in the Cadillac that night. Close friends and members of Shakur's family are set to appear in the documentary. SPIN ↗
