Shakira's residency in Madrid will open the stage to dozens of Spanish names
Shakira didn't make her Madrid residency just a series of concerts. The Macondo Park program will take over the Iberdrola Music venue from September 18 to October 11, running alongside the Colombian singer's own twelve performances, and what happens around them is unusually rich. JeneSaisPop ↗
Among the artists appearing at the venue are Amaia, Nathy Peluso, Guitarricadelafuente, Ángeles Toledano and Yerai Cortés. Also featured are Lia Kali and Santos Bravos, plus names from the indie and urban scene such as Rebe, Juicy BAE, ORTIGA, Dinamarca, Çantamarta, LaBlackie, Jimena Amarillo and Yapi. The program is rounded out by Stereo Madness, La Cochetona or Ruptura, and figures from the latest edition of Operación Triunfo, including winner Cris Lory. JeneSaisPop ↗
It's a lineup that brings together three quite different worlds of Spanish music. Amaia emerged from Operación Triunfo and Eurovision, but has since headed toward auteur pop. Guitarricadelafuente blends indie folk with rumba and flamenco, and got his start posting covers on Instagram. Nathy Peluso came from Argentina, grew up in Alicante, and her range spans from rap to salsa. Yerai Cortés is a flamenco guitarist who was the subject of a feature-length documentary last year.
For the Spanish scene, it's an opportunity that doesn't come around often — a world star lending her venue to homegrown names for almost a month.
