Thursday's schedule also brought a draw between the Czech Republic and South Africa and a clear victory for Switzerland, which returned to contention for qualification after its previous performances. Canada impressed with an offensive display, but the match was marred by a serious injury to Koné in Vancouver. According to available information, it was an unpleasant moment that caused concern directly at the stadium. Le Figaro ↗
Over the course of the day, other topics also emerged beyond the results themselves. Iran filed a complaint with FIFA, and in France discussion continues about online betting advertisements during matches. A proposed law could ban them during football matches, given that betting companies' offers are highly present during the tournament. France24 ↗
On Friday, June 19, attention will shift mainly to Brazil and Morocco, which face an important evening in the group stage. Brazil is also addressing the selection of Neymar under Carlo Ancelotti's leadership. The tournament thus continues to be shaped not only by qualification decisions but also by questions about players' health, teams' reactions, and broader debates surrounding the organization.
