Czech billionaire Daniel Křetínský is to increase his stake in West Ham United to 46 percent according to British sources. The owner of Prague Sparta would become the largest shareholder of the London club. The transaction is to be completed by the end of September. e15.cz ↗
Even at the beginning of summer, according to available information, it seemed that the deal was becoming complicated. However, negotiations are now heading towards an agreement that will significantly strengthen Křetínský's influence in English football. A scandal involving the club's former owner is said to have helped him move forward. According to published information, a competing candidate for a stronger position in West Ham was unsuccessful. zpravy.aktualne.cz ↗
Křetínský is among the richest Czech businessmen and in football he has long been primarily associated with Prague Sparta, which he owns. He already held a stake in West Ham, but the current increase would make him the strongest shareholder. The club plays in the second highest English league and its management will face expectations after the transaction is completed that sporting and ownership conditions will stabilize. isport.cz ↗
Further developments will depend on formal completion of the deal. If the transaction is completed by the end of September, Křetínský will acquire the most prominent position yet in the London club and his role in managing West Ham will be fundamentally strengthened. sport.cz - hokej ↗
