German statisticians report more accidents and record life expectancy

Germany's Federal Statistical Office released several sets of data on Tuesday concerning developments in transport, demographics, industry, and consumption. In road traffic in 2025, an average of eight people died every day and more than a thousand people were injured. Deutschlandfunk ↗

The number of road accident victims was 62 higher than in the previous year. According to the statisticians, approximately 371,000 people were injured. The data suggest that road safety remains a significant issue in Germany despite long-standing efforts to reduce the number of accidents. Tagesspiegel ↗

Another set of statistics brought a more favorable demographic figure. Life expectancy in Germany has risen, reaching a new record high. However, according to the office, differences between individual federal states persist. Die Zeit ↗

Changes are also continuing in the beer market. Production of non-alcoholic beer rose sharply again, while classic beer is losing ground. Weaker demand was also recorded for mixed beverages such as radler (beer shandy). The office also reported that industrial production grew more strongly than expected. Spiegel.de ↗

The latest set of data shows divergent trends across various areas of the German economy and society. In the near term, it will be important to watch whether the growth in industry is confirmed in the coming months and whether the changes in consumption and transport prove to be more lasting in character.
