Babiš calls on Europe to get involved in ending the war
Babiš was reacting to an agreement between the United States and Russia on supplies of Russian oil to the American and world markets. He described such a deal as a complete shock for Europe and declared that the Union should respond to these developments with greater involvement in seeking a solution to the war. aktuality.sk ↗
The proposal for European Union representatives to negotiate with Russia on peace in Ukraine was also mentioned by the Speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, Tomio Okamura. According to him, the Czech Republic should push for this position at the upcoming summit in Brussels. teraz.sk ↗
Babiš's statements link the energy deal between Washington and Moscow to Europe's security and foreign policy role. At the same time, the Czech prime minister pointed to the risk that the United States and Russia will negotiate on strategic issues without sufficient influence from European countries.
The summit could thus address not only the Union's further approach to the war in Ukraine, but also its position on broader agreements between Washington and Moscow. According to the proposal from its representatives, the Czech Republic will push for diplomatic negotiations with Russia.
