Matteo Arnaldi and Flavio Cobolli will meet in an all-Italian semifinal at Roland Garros. Arnaldi advanced after Matteo Berrettini retired from their quarterfinal derby in Paris due to a physical problem, while Cobolli earned his place among the final four with a victory over fourth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime. Berrettini's match ended prematurely after his physical condition stopped him once again. After advancing, Arnaldi stressed that he had not imagined the match unfolding this way and expressed regret over his compatriot's retirement. He also spoke about his rivalry with Cobolli, which will now carry over into a battle for a place in the Grand Slam final. Le Figaro ↗
Cobolli reached his first semifinal at a Grand Slam tournament. It was also the first time he had beaten a top-10 player at a Grand Slam event. After the match, he described the difficult conditions, particularly the wind early on, and said he felt this was the chance of a lifetime. His friend Bove also followed his progress, recalling their long-standing bond from childhood, when they used to play together in Rome. La Repubblica ↗
Regardless of the semifinal result, Italy is guaranteed a Roland Garros finalist. The duel between Arnaldi and Cobolli will thus decide which of the two seizes the biggest opportunity of his career to date. ANSA ↗
