Novak Djokovic won his first-round match at Roland Garros against world number 83 Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, setting another historic milestone in his career. The Serbian tennis player played his 82nd Grand Slam singles match, a record in the history of tennis. The match was demanding for the veteran, who had to fight his way back into the game after losing the first set. Despite the weaker start, Djokovic ultimately overcame his French opponent and continues in the tournament. Le Figaro ↗ Le Monde ↗
The match took place in the night session in Paris and showed initial signs of fatigue in the 37-year-old tennis player. However, Djokovic managed to find his way to victory and confirmed his experience. French debutant Mpetshi Perricard surprised with his performance and created certain problems for the tennis legend. The Serbian player has three Roland Garros titles, the last from 2023, and is now focused on advancing further on the iconic grounds of the Paris tournament. BBC News ↗ Le Figaro ↗
