French coach Didier Deschamps has announced the national team's squad for the 2026 World Cup, taking place from June 11 to July 19. The leader of France's offensive force is Kylian Mbappé, who will play alongside other attacking players including Ousmane Dembélé. Deschamps, who led France to the world championship title in 2018, presented the squad with a minimal number of surprises and without any major shocks. teraz.sk ↗ France24 ↗
Among the player selections, there were also some changes. Robin Risser became a complete newcomer to the national team, earning a goalkeeper spot in the squad and will serve as the third goalkeeping choice behind Mike Maignan. Eduardo Camavinga and Corentin Tolisso are absent from the squad, while Jean-Philippe Mateta replaced Randal Kolo Muani in attack. Several commentators emphasized that the French selection is pursuing a third world title through its collection of offensive potential. Le Figaro ↗ sport.cz - fotbal ↗
This squad announcement is also Deschamps' final act, as he is stepping down after fourteen years as head coach of the French national team. The team selection sparked discussions about which players failed to secure a place in the squad, and it has become the traditional launch of France's preparation for the World Cup in America.
